Post-pandemic education = five alarm fire. And Slim Shady. (Ep.5)
Show notes and sneak peek
Episode 5 starts out with a cute cameo from Kori’s oldest son, free ranging and looking for snuggles. Once he gets settled in, Kori and Laura discuss the broken education system and the impact on the teachers who’ve stayed. They explore the history of education and how patriarchy influences how teachers are (under)valued. There’s elevator music during a break, a solo of Kori covering Eminem, and some Bravo trivia. Kori and Laura share how we can show up for our educators, how educators can show up for themselves, and high leverage and impactful ways educators at all levels can make a difference. They address the immense power educators have in students’ lives - positively and negatively - and remind us that with great power comes great responsibility. Can’t forget to talk about how structural inequality is baked into the system because of how schools are inequitably funded - and how it is our collective responsibility as humans to make sure everyone has the opportunity to thrive - and lend our voices and resources to that end. We HAVE to change the system.
Laura shares one of her favorite reviews and is so flattered she practically forgets her own name. Let’s make it happen again. Ha! We appreciate your ratings and reviews on Apple podcasts. And please share this episode with the educators in your life!
